It’s that time of year again! Last year’s Christmas tree farm sessions were such a hit and have been so heavily requested, that I’m excited to share the love and host mini sessions there again this November with a THIRD … Continue reading
This sweet girl is getting cuter and cuter. Her family lives in Atlanta and I get the blessing of photographing her every three months (as part of the baby plan) when she’s down here to visit grandparents. We met at my favorite local park, Dorothy B. Oven Park, and spent some time under the beautiful oak trees taking pictures of her newest milestones. She’s a doll. Also, her mama is dear to my heart. When my own girls were babies, she was a blessing for a few hours each Monday morning so I could get out of the house and run errands, go sneak off somewhere and edit photos, or just take a breather. A wise woman once told me that one of the ways you successfully make it though the early years of parenting your sweet babies it by taking a lot of breaks. That advice has proven to be one of the many keys to making those earliest years most enjoyable. I love my babies hard, but that doesn’t mean I don’t need mommy-time too. Zoe’s mama was the vessel that provided those moments of respite for me early on and I am forever thankful for her.
Happy 6 months, Zoe!

The greatest compliment I can get is a family coming back to me over and over again. It is such an honor to photograph this group. Their oldest son, Ezra, was my FIRST newborn! He’s now 6 years old. In fact, this family is who helped launch me into starting my business and I love them so dearly on so many levels.
Their second son, Milo, just turned three and we met at Cascades Park on a steamy hot morning to take some pictures of him, his big brother, and their beautiful Mama. Age three is so full of spunk. Milo alternated between being a frog, a cowboy, and “a boy named Milo” throughout the session. I love him. His newborn and maternity sessions were some of my favorites.
Happy THIRD birthday, Milo man! You’ll get those three fingers figured out soon enough!
Zoey, Zoey, Zoey. You petite little thing. This doll baby was a sleepyhead for her session. I don’t usually get to photograph sleeping 3 month olds but poor Zoey just couldn’t keep those sweet blue eyes open for a minute longer. Is there anything so peaceful as a sleeping baby? I think not.
PS-Dorothy B. Oven Park has been my jam lately. That place never disappoints.
This tiny joy was photographed last year as part of a personal project for me and her mama wins an award for her patience in getting these photos from me. I’ve been wanting to re-learn film photography and the talented, Shannon from Mi Amore Foto, worked on this session with me. I’ve been chicken and haven’t sent those rolls of film into the lab yet. Those images will be shared when I finally get the courage to see how they turned out. With her help, I’m sure they’re fine. I’m just nervous. In the meantime, here are the images I took with my digital camera. They are so so lovely. My oh my do I love photographing babies!
On another note, I have been asked recently about tips for photographing your own kids so I’m toying with the idea of offering a class to share some of that info as well as teach mamas how to use their fancy big cameras to their fullest so really take great, legacy type pictures that only a mama can take of all the day-to-day happenings in a house. In the meantime, you can check out this post from my archives with a few tips.
It is an honor to have photographed this family. They have quite a year ahead of them and I’m so glad they made family photos a priority. You can read about their journey on this lovely lady’s blog.
I am in love! I’m in love with my baby boy. I’m in love with these pictures and I’m so thankful for my sweet friend, Aislinn, of Ais Portraits, for sharing her talent with me to take some pictures of me and my sweet Reider.
You cannot imagine how nervous I was about doing these. Nervous about wanting to lose more baby weight first, nervous about not having time to get ready (hello, dry shampoo!), nervous about being awkward in front of the camera… yes, even photographers feel that way. But, ladies, I am SO stinkin’ glad I did these! I mean, seriously! Who wouldn’t want sweet mama-baby snuggle pictures of yourself with your little one? This is was that first year is full of! This is what you’ve waited for 9 treacherous months! This! The snuggles. The cuddles. The sweet baby smell, may it supernaturally linger longer than it should (I legitimately prayed that).
There aren’t enough words for how glad I am that I put those nerves aside and let a pro (who knows women’s bodies and how to use flattering angles) capture this amazing, and short, season that is infancy. I cannot say enough about how thankful I am that I shut my inner self conscious voice up for long enough to do these. I dream of offering this service to Tallahassee mamas (hint hint, I will be), and ladies… I watch my angles like you wouldn’t believe.
Thank you so much Ais Portraits for your amazing talent, and thank you to The Fount Collective for featuring this session with your beautiful collection of photography. You and I are kindred hearts.
Little baby S will be here so so soon! Her mama and daddy are very anxious to meet her in just 2 weeks. I love the way their maternity pictures turned out. Congratulations Jaysha and Christian! I can’t wait to meet your little girl!
I am so so so thankful for the community of Creative Live. Seriously, good stuff happens over there for photographers. I’ve taken a few courses from them in the past and the one just this past week / weekend was the icing on top of the cake. The wonderful Kelly Brown from Little Pieces Photography in Brisbane, Australia instructed a course on posing newborns. Kelly is one of those masters of the trade and I could just watch her work all day long. She covered all the things needed to know to photograph newborns in all those cute little scrunchy positions that I love love love. I LOVE photographing newborns and seriously, I cannot wait to use some of Kelly’s awesome posing techniques on the little ones I have coming up in the next week(s). Those clients-to-be are currently still in their mama’s wombs.
If you’re expecting a little blessing and would like a beautiful newborn session of your own, contact me so I can get your due date on the calendar and get you the information you’ll need for your session. There is nothing sweeter in the world.
